This framed Assemblage Canvas is actually two canvases in one – the primary design sits on a 12.0″ x 9.0″ canvas board which is attached to a larger 14.0″ x 11.0″ canvas board. The background of the central canvas board is a combination of stenciled diamond texture and embossing while the background of the larger canvas board is a stenciled texture brick pattern.

In Assemblage art, the artist creates a larger art piece from smaller objects. I often refer to it as 3D collage on canvas. This particular artwork has around 200 attached elements, both vintage “found objects” and newer embellishments.

The older elements which I refer to as found objects are quite numerous: vintage Eiffel tower, segments of an old pearl purse, two vintage brooches, beaded flower, bird, necklace links, large brass beads, several earrings, chandelier plaster ornament, filagreed metal, jewelry makings, crowned round caps, leather button, buttons, oval frame, plastic star flowers, center pressed metal envelope, bird egg, beads, pop bottle cap, and an acorn for a touch of the natural.

Newer elements include (but not limited to) bead garland, lock charms, leaves, frog charm, rhinestones, beads, resin cabochons, winged heart, fabric and/or paper flowers, cutout heart, gears, flower face, buttons, gears, large wings, moon face, clock face, starfish and various metal embellishments.
