Nature Shadowbox Collage

It started with the idea of a nature shadowbox and ended up even better with the appearance of a shadowbox using a photo collage frame. Measuring a little over 14″ by 11″ (to allow for material on the sides of the frame), the elements are actually adhered to a canvas which is then overlaid with the collage frame.

Nature was my inspiration and there are many natural items in this piece – the twigs that make the trees, the moss, the pinecones, the Spanish moss used for the girl’s hair, and the piece of branch on which the red bird sits. The bird eggs, lavender, red bird, and butterfly are reproductions. I fashioned the girl’s face from polymer clay and the charm beneath her face declares “life is about creating yourself”. The frame is covered with creepy cloth which I painted to look like a natural material.

Attached hangers for wall hanging. Although most of my Assemblage Art pieces can be framed, I don’t suggest framing this shadowbox collage as the cloth covering the frame hangs over the edges as part of its intricate design.

Bird’s Lookout is a shadowbox that sits or hangs. Measuring 5″ high, 4.25″ wide, and 1.25″ deep, this little box is covered with an antique alphabet design paper that has been aged and embossed. Inside the box, you’ll find a vintage glass heart box base which holds a little feathered bird. Above it sits a large bracelet quote charm with the words “Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder” engraved upon it.

NOTE – If you plan on hanging Bird’s Lookout, please let me know when you purchase and I will add a hanger.

A Hand of Luck

I’m reducing several of my original art pieces. They represent an earlier stage of my work and, although they aren’t the same design as I’m now producing, they remain beautiful wall decor.

A Hand of Luck features the Hamsa Hand which is actually a good luck symbol (see below). It’s part of my new Mini Assemblage Art line although this one is on a rectangular piece of thin wood rather than a canvas. This original 3D collage measures 3.625″ x 2.625″ x .50″ and has an attached hanger although it looks great on an easel as well (easel not included). The background has multiple coats (Finnabair’s Art Alchemy metallic line) and spritzes (Lindy’s Stamp Gang) of paint along with dimensional paste for texturing.

Embellishments (found objects) include a metal Hamsa hand, metal gears, metal adornments, and assorted beads.

From the Good Luck Symbols site, I found the following about the Hamsa Hand. I’ve summarized:

The Hamsa Hand has become popular good luck symbol (Jewish) worldwide and is best known for the power to protect the owner from the evil eye and bring happiness to the holder. The holder of the Hamsa expects to be protected from all negative energies. The most common negative energy being envious glares from people wishing you no good. It’s said to symbolize the five books of the Torah: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

A Bird’s Day

A Bird’s Day is part of my new Mini Assemblage Art on Canvas line. This original 3D collage measures 3″ x 3″ and sits on a 5″ easel (included with purchase). The background has multiple coats and spritzes of paint along with dimensional paste stenciled in a steampunk style that adds even more texturing. Embellishments are the metal bird and the branch he sits on.

3D Wall Art Original Collage Assemblage Canvas Art

This assemblage design is on a canvas board which is attached to a larger canvas board. The background of the central canvas board is a combination of stenciled diamond texture and embossing while the background of the larger canvas board is a stenciled texture brick pattern, thus the name of the piece – Diamonds on Brick.

The found objects in this piece are quite numerous including the center pressed metal envelope, bird egg, pop bottle cap, and vintage elements – two vintage brooches, beaded flower, bird, necklace links, beads, and buttons.

You’ll also find a polymer clay flower fashioned by yours truly and an acorn for a touch of the natural. Newer pieces include (but not limited to) bead garland, lock charms, leaves, frog charm, rhinestones, beads, resin cabochons, winged heart, fabric and/or paper flowers, cutout heart, gears, beads, and various beads.

Hangers attached. This piece would also display well on an easel.

Steampunk Found Object Collage – 12 Mini Canvases in One

Twelve mini canvases were used to create this 12” x 9” steampunk canvas. Each mini canvas is a work of art in itself with a unique background for each and a story to tell.

Vintage found objects include tin candy mold, brass eyepiece, hot air balloon magnet, large buttons, pieces from two brooches, beads, large decorative pin, and beaded necklace section.

New items include (but not limited to) steampunk airship and bird, gears, “journey” charm, clock face, and a paper rose.

The larger 12” x 9” canvas has numerous layers of paint and spritzes as well as stenciled texture paste and the overall depth is 2”.

Attached hangers for wall hanging. Although I prefer the no-frame look, this is ready for framing. I occasionally frame an Assemblage Art piece and the end result can be stunning. This piece would also display nicely on an easel.
